Controlling Specialist (Warrendale, US)

Mid-level professional capable of fulfilling the project accounting and cost reporting requirements of multiple mid-sized projects or singular large project, including day-to-day interface with project management. The controlling specialist will also be primarily responsible for intercompany reconciliations and account analysis.

Duties and responsibilities:

Project Accounting

  • Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM), regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services related to billing.
  • Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing possibilities for the billing period.
  • Set up new projects and record employee billable hours and/or expenses.
  • Recommend and implement agreed process improvements to the billing cycle.
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
  • Report on project profitability to management.
  • Close out project accounts upon project completion

Month end

  • Assistance in compiling month end reports
  • Sales Analysis support
  • Financial Package support
  • Treasury Report
  • Data compilation required for the above reports
  • Management of month-end accruals/activities
  • Account Analysis – various balance sheet accounts and P&L, as required
  • Annual AOP process/3 year plan preparation
  • Ad Hoc projects
  • Manage and enhance HUB’s Credit Card program with Bank of the West
  • Implement an electronic reporting program
  • Year-end Audit and Internal Control compliance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting preferred.
  • Must have three (3) years’ experience in accounting and controlling activities
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in word processing, spreadsheets and accounting software, specifically SAP (required).
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
  • Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and report problems to the Controller, as necessary.
