The Director, Strategic Marketing role is an exciting opportunity to join the CPI Marketing team. In this role you will have significant opportunities for personal career growth while having a meaningful impact on the future success of our organization.

The Director, Strategic Marketing is responsible for the development of strategies that support organic growth within our markets. This individual will drive the long-term growth strategy in the vertical market working closely with VPGM’s, Sales, Product Management, and executive stakeholders to deliver winning products and services to support the company's overall strategy and goals. This externally focused role will work to discover problems in the marketplace that are urgent, pervasive, and customers are willing to invest to solve.

This is a strategic, highly visible role where you can have a direct impact on the Strategic Marketing Organization with primary responsibility to deliver a compelling strategy for the assigned markets. This individual must have strong strategic thinking skills, analytical expertise, and financial acumen. Knowledge of, and experience in our specific applications in target markets is a strong asset. She/he must also have well demonstrated success in in marketing and/or strategic product management . Success will be defined through organic growth or revenue retention targets for strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Discover problems in the market by facilitating interactions with key stakeholders to validate urgent problems; developing strategies that leverage our distinctive competencies.
  • Outline needs within target markets and analyze the market segments to actively pursue; ensuring that the targeted segments are large enough to support the current and future growth objectives.
  • Uses strong analytical thinking to identify competitive and alternative offerings
  • Uses strong strategic thinking to Integrate products, services, and partners into a coherent set (or portfolio) focused on solving a problem for the specific target market(s). Manage the portfolio like a product (business plan, positioning, buying process, market requirements and marketing plan)
  • Uses strong business and financial acumen to perform an objective analysis of a potential market opportunities to provide a basis for investment; articulate what you learned in the market and quantify the risk, including the financial model; make recommendations based on the data

Ideal Candidate Profile

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or engineering discipline, MBA strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 10 yrs. of professional experience in Product Management or Strategic Marketing role (or similar). Consulting experience is an asset.
  • Technology aptitude required if candidate has no Engineering background
  • Demonstrated success in building roadmaps and driving organic growth
  • Ability to travel up to 50% at times. Average travel expected at around 25%.
